EXERCISE · BARBELL
Barbell Clean
Back
Start with the bar over your midfoot, shins nearly touching it, and pull it off the floor with your back flat and hips higher than your knees. As the bar passes your knees, drive your hips forward hard into full extension — that violent hip snap, not your arms, is what sends the bar upward. The instant it's weightless at the top of the pull, drop underneath it and catch it across the front of your shoulders, elbows whipped forward fast enough to beat the bar down, then stand the weight up to finish. Your arms only ever guide the bar; the power comes entirely from your hips and legs.
