EXERCISE · BARBELL

Close-Grip Floor Press

Arms

Lie on the floor with your knees bent and feet flat, and take a narrower grip on the bar than you would for a normal bench press. Lower it until your upper arms rest on the floor -- that's your stopping point, well short of touching your chest, so the range of motion is naturally shorter than a bench press. Pause briefly on the floor rather than bouncing off it, then press back up, keeping your elbows tucked close to your body rather than flared. With the shoulder joint taken out of its stretched position, almost all of the work lands on your triceps, which is the point of doing this off the floor instead of a bench.
