Curtsy Lunge

Legs

Most people don't cross their back leg far enough behind, which turns it into just a regular lunge and defeats the whole point. Step your back leg across your body and behind your front leg, as if you're doing a curtsy. This angle puts completely different tension on your glutes and quad than a regular lunge. Lower your body until your back knee nears the ground, then push through your front foot to stand up. The crossing motion is what makes this different from every other lunge — don't skip it to make it easier. Make the curtsy shape matter.
