Hang Clean

Back

What separates a clean catch from an awkward dump is where the bar finishes—it should land on your shoulders, not your wrists or chest. Hang from the bar with straight arms, feet hip-width apart. Hinge at your hips and bend your knees until the bar is just above your knees. From there, extend explosively through your hips and knees, rising up onto your toes. As you finish the extension, drop under the bar and catch it on your shoulders in a quarter squat. Your elbows punch forward underneath the bar. Stand up out of the catch. The bar lives on your shoulders, your elbows are high, your wrists are just guides.
