Dumbbell Clean

Back

The pull and hip snap work the same way as a barbell clean — hips higher than knees to start, then a hard extension that sends the weight upward — but each dumbbell travels its own path rather than being locked to a straight bar, so your hands have more freedom to rotate as they pull. Catch the dumbbells at your shoulders with your elbows up and palms facing in, rather than forcing a barbell-style front-rack grip that dumbbells don't allow. Because each hand moves independently, small timing differences between your left and right sides show up clearly — chase symmetry rather than raw speed.
