Sumo Squat

Legs

The difference between a sumo squat and a wide squat is the toe angle — your toes point outward, sometimes sharply. That changes the path of your knees and shifts the load to your inner thighs and glutes. If your toes point straight ahead or only slightly out, you are not doing a true sumo squat. Place your feet wider than your shoulders, toes turned out to an angle that feels natural for your hips. Sit your hips back and down, knees tracking over your toes. Keep your chest upright and your weight balanced. Descend as deep as you can without your knees caving inward, then drive through your feet to stand.
