Cable Lateral Raise
Shoulders
The thing that makes a cable version worth doing over dumbbells is tension at the bottom — a dumbbell goes slack against your leg, a cable keeps pulling the whole time. Stand side-on to the machine with the handle set low, and work one arm at a time. Raise your arm out to the side, leading with your elbow rather than your hand, up to about shoulder height. Keep a soft bend in your elbow throughout instead of locking it straight. Lower back down slowly, resisting the cable rather than letting it drag your arm back. Keep your torso still — if you're leaning away from the cable to swing the weight up, drop it down.
