Chest-Supported Lateral Raise

Shoulders

Set an incline bench to a steep angle and lean your chest into the pad facing it, dumbbells hanging straight down below your shoulders. Your torso is pinned against the bench, so there's no hip or back swing available to help the weight up. Raise both arms out to your sides until they're roughly level with your shoulders, leading with your elbows rather than your hands, then lower with control. With momentum off the table, this is where you find out how much of a standing lateral raise was really your shoulders and how much was body english.
