Dumbbell Row

BackArms

The mistake that turns this into a twisting mess is rotating your torso to help the dumbbell up. Keep your shoulders square to the floor the entire set — if you have to twist to finish a rep, the weight is too heavy for now. Support yourself with one hand and knee on a bench, torso roughly parallel to the floor. Let the dumbbell hang straight down from a relaxed shoulder, then pull it toward your hip, driving your elbow up and back rather than out to the side. Squeeze at the top before lowering it fully under control. Finish every rep on one side before switching — don't alternate arm to arm.
